Law Enforcement Request Protocols
Come Align d/b/a Align is committed to user safety, privacy and cooperation with lawful investigations. These protocols explain how Align receives, evaluates and responds to requests for user information from authorized law enforcement agencies and other government authorities. Disclosures are limited to information Align is legally required or permitted to provide.
01 · Scope and information available
Align is currently in its pre-launch stage. The website operates a waitlist, launch-city voting, an Alignment Checker and a Houston Beta offering. Information that may be available includes:
- Waitlist records: name, email address, birthdate, city, sign-up date, age eligibility derived from the submitted birthdate and communication preferences.
- Beta order records, where applicable: name, email address, purchase date and associated Stripe transaction identifiers. Checkout is currently in test mode and does not create a real charge.
- Technical information: limited records processed or retained by hosting, infrastructure or security providers, subject to availability and applicable retention periods.
Payment card numbers and complete payment credentials are processed by Stripe and are not stored by Align. The Alignment Checker uses birthdates in the browser without sending them to our servers or saving them in browser storage.
The pre-launch website does not maintain operational dating profiles, private user messages or location histories. Available records may change as the mobile application launches and additional features are introduced. Align cannot produce information it does not possess, control or retain.
02 · Submission of requests
Authorized law enforcement personnel should email [email protected] from an official government or law enforcement address where available. Include:
- The requesting agency, officer or authorized official's name and title or badge number, and official contact information.
- The legal authority for the request and supporting legal process, including any applicable subpoena, court order or warrant.
- Sufficient identifiers to locate the relevant records, such as the email address associated with a waitlist entry or order.
- The specific information sought, the relevant date range and any legally applicable response deadline.
- Any legal restriction on user notification, with its supporting order or authority.
Align may request clarification or additional documentation before processing a request. Sending an email does not by itself establish valid legal service or guarantee disclosure.
03 · Verification and legal review
Align evaluates the authenticity, legal validity, jurisdiction, scope and specificity of each request. This includes assessing the requesting authority's identity, whether the records are within Align's possession or control, and whether appropriate legal process supports disclosure. Where needed, Align may seek confirmation through independently verified official agency contact details rather than relying solely on the sender's email address.
Depending on the information requested and applicable law, a subpoena, court order, search warrant or other legally recognized process may be necessary. No single type of process automatically authorizes access to every category of information.
Requests that are excessively broad, unclear, defective or unsupported by appropriate legal authority may be challenged, narrowed or declined as permitted by law. Align may seek legal guidance where necessary.
04 · Emergency disclosure requests
An authorized agency that reasonably believes there is an imminent danger of death or serious physical injury may submit a request with "EMERGENCY" in the subject line. Describe the nature of the emergency, identify the people at risk, explain the urgency and why ordinary legal process cannot be obtained in time, specify the information sought and provide official contact information.
Align evaluates emergency requests individually and may make limited voluntary disclosures without ordinary legal process only where permitted by applicable law. An emergency designation does not automatically guarantee disclosure. This email channel is not an emergency service and does not guarantee immediate review; contact local emergency services for immediate danger.
05 · Preservation of records
Agencies may request preservation of specifically identified, available records in anticipation of valid legal process. Include the agency's official contact information, relevant identifiers, record categories, date range and legal basis for preservation.
Align evaluates preservation requests under applicable law and preserves available records when legally required, including an initial 90-day period where applicable. Extensions are evaluated under applicable law. Preservation does not recover deleted or unavailable information and does not itself authorize disclosure; separate legally sufficient authority is required before preserved information is released.
06 · Scope and security of disclosures
When disclosure is legally required or permitted, Align reviews available information for relevance and legal scope and seeks to limit production to records responsive to the authorized request. If clarification or narrower legal process is needed, Align may ask the requesting agency to address it before production.
Align seeks to use an appropriately secure transmission method, confirms the authorized recipient, and limits internal access to personnel responsible for processing the request. Where operationally available, records of requests, review decisions, preservation actions and disclosures are maintained for accountability and compliance.
07 · User notification
Align generally seeks to notify affected users before disclosing their information where legally permissible and appropriate. Notification may be delayed or withheld where prohibited by law or court order, where legally permitted and it could compromise an investigation or endanger an individual, or where an emergency or other legally recognized exception applies. Align may reassess delayed notification when the restriction or risk no longer applies.
08 · Third-party service providers
Certain information may be independently held or controlled by Stripe or other infrastructure and service providers identified in our Privacy Policy. Where Align does not possess or control the requested information, the agency may need to direct its request to the relevant provider under that provider's legal request procedures. Payment card records must be requested from Stripe directly.
09 · Requests from outside the United States
Foreign law enforcement requests are evaluated under applicable law and relevant international legal cooperation requirements. Align may require appropriate United States legal process or established international legal assistance procedures before disclosure. A foreign request alone does not automatically authorize release of user information.
10 · Safety and reporting
Align prohibits human trafficking, child sexual exploitation, sexual violence, abuse and other unlawful conduct under its Terms and Conditions and Acceptable Use Policy. Where Align becomes aware of suspected criminal activity or threats to user safety, it may preserve relevant information and make reports to appropriate authorities as required or permitted by applicable law.
11 · Contact and updates
Send law enforcement requests to [email protected]. General support, safety reports and privacy inquiries may also use this published contact channel; identify the purpose of the request in the subject line. These protocols may be updated as Align develops additional services or applicable legal requirements change. The effective date above identifies the latest version.
